We have a picture at home in Melbourne which says:
‘The beach is my happy place.’

There is no doubt, much as we love life in Melbourne, the moment we start on the 75 mins drive to Rye, on the Mornington Penisula the thought of some time away at the beach warms my heart.

Rye on the Mornington Peninsula spreads from the calmer bay beaches to the rugged ocean beaches. The beauty of this area is that it offers something for everyone. There is safe, calm swimming for kids in the bay and patrolled surf beaches on the ocean back beaches.

A favourite day for us will start with a walk through the Mornington Peninsula National Park and onto the sandy bay at Number Sixteen Beach. It says a lot about the area and the number of beaches, that this beach is just a number, not a name.
It’s funny how I always have the time to stop and admire the flora and fauna in Rye, in a way that I never get a chance to stop and smell the roses in the city!

In fact we are reminded often of the need to slow down here…

Because if you go too quickly you just never know what excitements you will miss.
Below is our version of the Loch Ness Monster!

We find every walk is unique and special, even when we go to the same place,
time and time again. It can look very different depending on the weather…
We love Rye because of the choice of things to do.
You will often find us at The Cups Estate, enjoying lunch and a glass of wine.

The Cups Estate
If you are a golfer you are spoilt for choice with more than fifteen prestigious golf courses on the Peninsula, what’s not to like? The stunning scenery creates some awesome challenges on the golf course.

We have the Peninsula Hot Springs on the doorstep which is a fun spa treat in all weathers…

We don’t cook much at the beach, why would we when we have some of Australia’s best restaurants around.

‘My favourite thing to make at the beach, is a reservation!’

We always smile when we walk past the front gates of one of the Rye
beach houses just tucked away behind the rolling sand dunes, which declares:
‘The Best Is Now’ which seems to sum up perfectly life in Rye!
