𝗖𝗢𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪
I’ve been enjoying the many coastal views here in Southern Thailand – whether it’s been an early rise for the stunning sunrise island views in Phang Nga Bay, joining a heron for their early morning private fishing trip, floating through impossibly small cave entrances flat on my back to find inland secluded mangrove pools, or admiring the gorgeous beach views from our fabulous villas.
It’s been quite a week!
Thailand you have the best coastal views ever! Do you have a favourite coastal destination?

Day Two
The conference offers the choice of many sessions and I was especially interested to attend and learn more about something close to my heart 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺: 𝘛𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘮 𝘣𝘺 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦, 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦
Thailand was given as an example of a leader in this area of tourism “𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘊𝘉𝘛: 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵”
In my experience the biggest barrier for the public engaging with local communities is a confusing choice of how to connect, book and know whether your money goes directly to the local communities.
This was covered “𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥, 𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘥”
My second session was panelists from the following:
@untours @exotravelgroup @localalike and GuideGuru (via Facebook)
Whilst I am often unsure of going through a third party booking agent I can see why the local communities need their expertise.
𝗔𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁.

Day One
Thanks to 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘆𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 @hugthailand we attended a fabulous first day & the Opening Ceremony of #GSTC2026
This conference is a gathering of world leaders & stakeholders in the sustainable tourism field.
Day One was full of vital conversations the industries involved all looking for practical action.
For me I’m searching for answers to the modern travel dilemma ‘𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 … 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳?’
I’m excited that my once home island of Phuket, Thailand was chosen as the destination for such an important gathering.
The conference opened with some griping entertainment which moved from high energy space age excitement to more solemn soulful reflective dances. The enormity of the task at hand is not lost on most attendees.
We watched, we listened to prominent speakers in the field, I met some interesting people both inside and outside the room and was even interviewed for Thai TV!

Welcome Reception Dinner
We’re back on the beautiful island of Phuket, thanks to the 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱’𝘀 𝗦𝘆𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 @hugthailand. We’re here to attend #gstc2026 fabulous gala evening.
What an opening night! The entertainment was varied from Thai dancers & a Khon masked performance to ballet & a choir who’d been learning a variety of catchy songs from YMCA and more.
The delicious food was fabulous as would be expected from the renowned Blue Elephant restaurant.
I also loved exploring the surroundings stalls, bringing their colour and passion for stainable produce from perfumes to @livelikealocal.phuketinspire’s stunning bags made from recycled product from the sea.
It was great to gather on the lawns of the famous @blueelephant restaurant for this official welcome.
I can already tell it’s going to be a high energy event, I’ve been meeting interesting and committed leaders engaged in making sustainability at the forefront of their business decisions.

I can’t believe I’ve lived in Melbourne for donkey’s years and never made it to the 12 Apostles!
And we nearly didn’t make it this week either,
but more of this later!
The 12 Apostles are now a collection of 7 limestone stacks, a 4 hour drive from Melbourne. It’s an iconic postcard view, and I feel like I’m the only person that had never seen them!
We set off along the Great Ocean Road stopping off along the way to enjoy the sights only to find that darkness struck and we missed them 😮Bummer!!
The next morning it was rainy and misty, but the travel Gods looked down on us and a patch of blue sky (just enough to 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘴 – if you know that expression? ) openned up and it was just beautiful!
We had the viewing platform all to ourselves – it was very special moment! 🎶and I know this much is true I feel blessed to have seen them! ❤️
What do you have in your travel bucket list?
Have a great week everyone!

So this weeks theme for TravelTribeUnite is an opportunity to share a few … taken on location in Australia, France, Thailand, United Kingdom, New Zealand, United States and more…
I love wandering across or perhaps under Bridges and wondering about their history… Do you?
Here’s a few from recent years from misty mornings to gorgeous evening glow, each one tells its own story of connection and crossing, and I’m often curious!

𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭!
Welcome to Alba Hot Springs! This week I was invited to join Nadine @redbagwilltravel thanks to @seniorsinmelbourne to take a wander through the peaceful, other worldly surrounds for an 𝘰𝘩 𝘴𝘰 relaxing time!
As soon as those bathrobes are on, you find yourself ready to be immersed in that soothing experience that geothermal pools offer!
It’s a dreamy sweet escape, an easy drive just over an hour from Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula.
I’ll long time remember this setting for its fine architecture, botanical setting, lovely dining alongside the plethora of choices for indoor, outdoor and open air pools.
It’s a wonderful thing, as you sink into their geothermal pools the rest of the world disappears – it’s a magic disconnect and much needed in my week!
Thank you @albathermalsprings for a beautiful day!
Have you ever tried a geothermal pool experience? It’s highly recommended!
