US Open Tennis 2025 – what to see, do and love as well as the tennis!

Your guide to the very best at Flushing Meadows, August 18–September 8, 2025

by wrensrambles@gmail.com

Calling all tennis fans! The US Open 2025 is here, bigger and better than ever, now stretching over three weeks. Last year, more than a million fans poured through the gates of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, and this year promises to be even more spectacular.

Your New York tennis adventure kicks off with Fan Week—the perfect chance to explore the grounds, find your favourite courtside spots, and soak up the buzz before the main draw begins.

US Tennis Arthur Ashe stadium

Of course, you could just show up and wing it, but with an event this huge, it’s a bit like heading to Disneyland without a map—you’ll have fun, but you’ll also miss a lot. That’s where we come in. Here’s your insider’s guide to making the most of your US Open experience.

Won’t you take a wander with me, and I’ll show you around?

It’s not just the tennis that’s legendary!

What to See, Do, and Love at the US Open Tennis 2025

The US Open is more than just a tennis tournament—it’s a three-week celebration of sport, culture, and New York energy, where world-class matches meet music, food, art, and unforgettable moments in the heart of Queens. Whether you’re a lifelong tennis fan or a first-time attendee, the 2025 US Open promises excitement on and off the court.

Wren’s top Tip:

Before you do anything, download the US Open Official App to help enhance your days at the tennis.

You can find the US Open map here.

1. Watch World-Class Tennis

I do have to start with the tennis as that is what we’re all here for, right?! There are 22 impressive courts – including four stadium courts, with the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium at its heart. The world-class facility has been home to the US Open every year since 1978 and is located in the heart of New York City. To be guaranteed a stadium seat, you need a ticket via Ticketmaster.

The FAQ and everything you need to know about ticket sales are found here.

Wren’s tip: Look for shade – I’ve found it’s hot and humid in New York during the US Open. Unlike the Australian Open, there is a lot less shade.

I liked this post: The Essential Shade Seekers Guide to the US Open.

US Open Fan Week

From Monday, Aug. 18 to Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025 the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center grounds will once again be free and open to the public.

I love this week, as it’s an excellent opportunity to enjoy the US Open without the mega crowds. Throughout the week, you’ll find various events, including Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day (Saturday, 23 August), the blockbuster US Open Mixed Doubles Championship and the US Open Qualifying Tournament.

Courtside US Open 2025

The main draw starts on Sunday, 24 August, and continues through Sunday, 7 September. Watch the world’s best players compete for glory, ending up in the championship finals at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The three courtside arenas are ticketed: Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium and Grandstand Stadium. Check your ticket details, for instance, Arthur Ashe Stadium also allows first-come, first-served access to General Admission areas of Louis Armstrong Stadium and Grandstand Stadium.

You can buy tickets via Ticketmaster, and a Ground Pass entry allows access to all other courts.

Practice Courts

If possible, try to schedule in some time to watch a practice session or two. It’s a great way to get up close to your favourite stars as they warm up for their matches. You can check out the live practice schedules here.

2. Explore Flushing Meadows’ Fan Experiences

This isn’t just a sporting event—it’s a festival. Between matches, I love to wander the grounds, and I always manage to come away with various freebies, having taken some fun photos and entered a myriad of competitions!

Live Daily concerts, DJ Sets and entertainment

Found throughout the South Plaza and main walkways, for all fans. You see a mix of local New York artists and nationally recognised acts. Check out the schedules posted at the entrance gates.

Interactive American Express Fan Zone and sponsor giveaways.

A visit to the American Express pavilion in the South Plaza is not just for Amex cardholders! You can try your hand at “air tennis,” a hands-free, motion-sensor game that pits you against a digital opponent.

There are selfie backdrops, with practical amenities like free device-charging stations and mini lockers that help manage your belongings during long tournament days, plus daily sponsor giveaways.

If you are an American Express cardholder, you can access additional perks and exclusive areas within the Fan Zone pavilion.

3. Savour the Food and Drinks

There are plenty of dining options, and what is the US Open without a signature cocktail, or more like it for me, a coffee and an ice cream whilst watching the action on a large screen.

The full range of food and beverages is found here.

Here are some of my favourites chosen over the years, and some that have caught my eye this year.

Lavazza Booth

It might be humid and hot in New York, but that never stops the faithful from their coffee fix from the official coffee sponsor, Lavazza. Head over to the Lavazza booth for a chance to win prizes, and send a postcard from New York!

The Italian coffee brand serves traditional espresso drinks alongside espresso martinis and sweet Italian treats. You can also challenge the Lavazza robot Luigi to a tennis match on court six!

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream

It isn’t tennis unless we have a Van Leeuwen ice cream! The famous ice cream shop is debuting a U.S. Open exclusive: Honeycomb Fudge Slam—sweet cream ice cream, honeycomb candy, and fudge – yummy!

Van Leeuwen at the US Open

Evian

Absolutely, my preferred drink of choice on hot tennis days, so I’m always thrilled to find Evian, the official water of the US Open.

Grey Goose Grandstand Bar

Honey Deuce: The iconic cocktail of the tournament made with lemonade, raspberry liqueur and honeydew with Grey Goose vodka.

It cost a steep $23 in 2024, but you do get to keep the cup!

Grey Goose at US Open

Aperol

Aperol Spritz: A signature cocktail made with Aperol, Prosecco, and soda water, served with a slice of orange.

You will spot Aperol Spritz bars and trucks, as well as branded bar carts, at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Meet you at the Aperol Truck, do I hear you say? Near Court 5, Aperol will set up an authentic Italian Apé Truck, just sayin’.

Having been to all the grand slams, it feels like this Italian Aperol is the drink of choice for a cool time at the tennis – yes, move over Pimms at Wimbledon or maybe even Honey Deuce, an Aperol spritz is a popular choice.

Moët & Chandon Bar

Some fizz, anyone?! Now you’re talking! Let’s visit the Moët & Chandon Bar steps from Arthur Ashe Stadium (and elsewhere around the grounds) and enjoy Moët & Chandon in limited-edition golden goblets, available exclusively at the US Open.

Heineken Red Star Patio Café

Do seek out the outdoor Heineken Red Star Patio Café, located outside the US Open Club. Enjoy fresh selections of seasonal foods paired with a Heineken or a summer speciality cocktail. The Heineken Red Star Patio Café is available for all ticket holders. Stop by for lunch, dinner or after the matches.

Dobel Tequila Club

Ace Paloma: Maestro Dobel tequila, red grapefruit soda and a twist of fresh lime, served over ice with a black lava salt rim and grapefruit wedge.

The Ace Paloma from Maestro Dobel Tequila, while soaking up the summer vibes, is definitely a crowd pleaser. Why not try one at the Dobel Tequila Club, which has great elevated views of Court 7 action and is located on the west side of the Fountain Plaza, above the US Open Collection Store.

Amex Centurion Lounge

With your American Express card, cardholders can access the Amex Centurion Lounge on the second level of Louis Armstrong Stadium (same-day reservations required via Resy). Platinum Card Members enjoy dishes curated by well-known chefs.

4. Shop for Souvenirs

US Open Merchandise

From my US Open caps to my Wimbledon bag and my AO towel, you’ve gotta love a souvenir, and there is plenty of take-home exclusive 2025 US Open apparel and memorabilia. Anyone for a US Open rubber duck?!

US Open collection shopping at the US Open

Player Gear

Pick up tennis essentials and gear inspired by the pros – From Nike, Lululemon and Polo Ralph Lauren.

Wren’s Tip: My favourite store is always the Wilson Store for the best tennis Christmas presents at a better price than Polo Ralph Lauren!

PS The new Lululemon Pop-up store (at Arthur Ashe Stadium) has a really great-looking US Open collection – just saying!

5. Tips for Making the Most of Your Day

Plan Ahead

Book tickets for your favourite matches and check the schedule for special events.

Stay Sun-Smart:

Bring sunscreen (or collect free giveaways at the three La Roche-Posay Sampling Kiosks), a hat, and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated by visiting one of 40+ water fountains around the grounds.

Explore Beyond the Courts

New York Mets baseball games are held at Citi Field, which is located in the same park as the US Open. You can check the schedule here.

New York’s iconic landmarks, dining, and attractions are just a subway ride away.

6. Activations

As I mentioned, I love wandering to find freebies and souvenirs at the tennis. Here are some of my favourites!

AmEx Radio

American Express Card Members can also pick up a complimentary radio to listen to the ESPN broadcast and live updates while watching matches at the US Open. Radios are available at American Express-branded locations across the grounds.

I love these radios, and listening to the commentary really enhances my experience.

Chase

There are always big queues here, so go early to stop by the popular Magic ATM for chase giveaways, capture your winning shot in the interactive photo booth, and charge up with a complimentary mobile charger.

Chase cardholders have access to a dedicated lounge area that requires Chase cardholder status and advance reservations (especially recommended for busy sessions and finals weekend). The main gaming areas and public seating remain accessible to all tournament attendees.

Emirates

Found near Court 14, where you can get inspo for your next holiday and meet the cabin crew for a photo opp. They host various competitions, including a chance to win a dream trip to Dubai from New York and participate in interactive games.

Wren’s tip: Win a seat cushion!

Gosh, I love a free seat cushion – Test your skills in ‘Serve or Swerve’ for a chance to win an exclusive Emirates Seat Cushion.

Cadillac Experience

The Cadillac experience( outside Arthur Ashe Stadium) is always worth attending. Last year, I received a $10 F&B voucher for answering questions and signing up for their mailing list. This year, they share their own 2025 US Open Theme Art.

Melissa Koby, the first Black theme artist in US Open history, creates this interactive experience. The art displays the silhouette of tennis icon Althea Gibson, the first Black player to win a Grand Slam event, the French Open in 1956.

Chubb Booth

Photo Opportunity: take a photo in a replica umpire’s chair. Everyone who stops by will receive a small token to commemorate being part of Chubb’s on-court sponsorship. (found near Court 9)

Mount Sinai

Freebie: I’m not sure where I’d be without my free Band-Aids, or should I say plasters? (Located near Court 15). The booth also offers an interactive booth for fun photo ops and a chance to win US Open Finals tickets, along with hosting professional tennis players for meet-and-greet appearances.

FAGE booth

Freebie: Yoghurt

I’m not sure how many thousands of samples of FAGE’s Famous Greek yoghurt they give away, but it is certainly worth stopping (at the booth near the Grandstand)

IHG

Photo Opp: I love this tennis ball-inspired photo moment!

Bring your IHG Membership card and details, as The IHG® Experience, located near the Champion’s Entry, transports guests into an immersive city rooftop experience. Experience a taste of the IHG One Rewards program for yourself at the IHG booth.

La Roche-Posay

Beat the heat & level up your US Open experience with La Roche-Posay near Court 8! Because every day is a sunscreen day, score free samples to stay protected while you catch all the action. I also had my face analysed for sun damage, which was not a pretty picture, so not shown here!

7. What to pack for a great day at the Tennis

We have written extensively on what to pack for tennis here, but unless you have a corporate invite, where everything, often including the hat, is provided, these are my essentials.

Hat & sunscreen – as mentioned, there is often little sun.

Water bottles – there are plenty of water fountains across the site

A small towel to sit on – those plastic seats feel hard and get sweaty and you can always wear it!

Watching on outdoor courts
Always take a small towel!

Sarong – again sun protection

Snacks & maybe a picnic – who wants to leave for lunch at a curcial time in the match

Phone charger – to keep up with battery power for all those photos and the date used on the app!

Sponsor cards – your AmEx, Chase and IHG cards, amongst others, will open doors for you, so bring them.

What not to pack is found here: Prohibited items at the US Open Tennis (beware the size of your backpack and no glass or hardsided picnic boxes)

Dear Wren, I don’t play tennis and haven’t bothered with it since my darling Steffi Graf quit.
Non-alcoholic Aperol Spritz is a lovely drink for a summer evening.
Your photos are impressive!

Well- it certainly looks like you had an exciting time. Despite living less than 2 hours away, I’ve never been ! However, my husband and my younger son (both tennis players and fans)_ have taken the train and ventured there. I’ve watched on TV. Great review and thanks.
