Last week I took time out from my Bangkok days here in Thailand, waiting for the world to reopen, for some Me<\/i><\/b> time.<\/span><\/p>\n

SEIZE THE DAY!<\/p>\n

Are you the same and not entirely sure where 2020 has disappeared to? If like me you have been managing Covid issues for your family across several continents and in several timezones, the past few months went by in a flash and now it\u2019s nearly time for your Christmas holidays – not! Have your original plans for festive days with family in your homeland long disappeared?<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been exhausting, hasn\u2019t it? Covid-19 and the accompanying worldwide uncertainty has gone on far longer than any of us thought. Some of us have waved kids off to universities across the globe, from here, not there. Our nights spent hoping that the resilience you tried to instil in your (adult) kids would be enough to maintain their sensibilities during a global pandemic. Knowing that if anything goes wrong, there is little that you can do about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ve lost track of how many family special events, normally celebrated together have come and gone quietly this year. There are a whole heap of babies born that are waiting to meet their grandparents and I know of at least two new four-legged friends that will no longer be puppies when they are finally introduced. Then there has been the sadness of seeing our friends grieve family members without a final goodbye. <\/span><\/p>\n

Hands up who needs a break – meeee!<\/span><\/p>\n

Stop the world I want to get off!<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

THE RISE OF THE SOLO FEMALE TRAVELLER<\/p>\n

Travel companies all talk about the rise of the solo female traveller as being one of the biggest watch areas in travel. I\u2019m wondering what impact the recent months of the pandemic will have on this market?<\/span><\/p>\n

Hmmm, I\u2019m thinking it\u2019s about to explode, what about you? We have all proven that we can spend weeks in social isolation, some of us in testing times locked indoors with our loved ones.\u00a0 <\/span>Maybe others have enjoyed this time\u2026 aren\u2019t we, for instance, preparing for a baby boom? Whilst Covid may not be the birth name of choice, I\u2019m certainly hearing of a pug dog in England that is called Covid, or was it, Boris?! I forget, whatever\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

I digress, the point is let\u2019s go for some adventures and to make it really fun, let\u2019s go exploring on our own. I believe we deserve it!<\/span><\/p>\n

LET’S VENTURE OUT SOLO IN THAILAND!<\/p>\n

There has never been a better moment in history to go off on your own. For those of us (happily) marooned in Thailand, we can\u2019t leave Thailand without the worry of how we can return, not to mention the challenges and cost of quarantine.<\/span><\/p>\n

We also know that Thailand without tourists is a unique time not to be missed. The prices are good and for some of us, our partners are clamouring for their own me time too.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

SOLO FEMALE TRAVELLERS<\/p>\n

Did you know that a booking.com<\/span><\/a> survey resulted in a Solo Travel Report that revealed that 72% of American women are taking solo journeys? The biggest demographic was in my age group the 55 years plus. <\/span><\/p>\n

The next biggest was under 25 years. There is something that I love at this stage of my life getting out there travelling with the under 25 years? It makes me feel youthful again!<\/span><\/p>\n

Covid has also made some of us nervous to return to exploring. For those of us with families in the epicentres of Coronavirus hotspots, we are mindful not to worry our families regarding our travel plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

They say that during Covid, more marriages dissolved and weakened than survived and strengthened. If you were one of the lucky ones that had a relationship strengthen then own that success and travel solo to reinforce the message. If you were one of the unfortunate masses, and you have now announced your Facebook status to the world as Single, embrace going solo. It\u2019s the new you and you\u2019d better enjoy it!<\/span><\/p>\n

ME, MYSELF AND THAILAND<\/p>\n

Last year I was invited to attend a product test for a Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) e-publication \u00a0Me, Myself & Thailand<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/a>. We travelled to Nan, one of the five destinations highlighted for solo female travellers to consider. Along with Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Kanchanaburi, Nong Khai and Phuket.<\/span><\/p>\n

I loved all the extensive research and consideration that had gone into this <\/b>e-book publication. TAT has identified that Solo Female Travellers in Thailand want:<\/span><\/p>\n
