Christmas trees I’ve seen a few, <\/span><\/div>\n
but rarely has a Christmas tree stopped me in my tracks <\/span><\/div>\n
quite like the one at the Sofitel, Bangkok Sukhumvit.<\/span><\/div>\n
Wow, it is delightful.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
 It’s hard to get a decent photo amidst the busy foyer entrance<\/span><\/div>\n
but I don’t remember a Christmas tree that has me drawn me in,<\/span><\/div>\n
wandering round and around, <\/span>like this one!<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
Every where you look there is something interesting.<\/span><\/div>\n
From the choice of books ‘Beautiful Youth’ to the rich luxurious cushions,<\/span><\/div>\n
candles and gifts just waiting to be unwrapped…<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
Just look at the detail, can you spot the reading glasses?<\/span><\/div>\n
They’ve used hundreds of books through out the hotel.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
Of course on top there is something special<\/span><\/div>\n
Not a tired old fairy, or a wobbly star,<\/span><\/div>\n
but a whole black chandelier.<\/span><\/div>\n
So tall, it almost reaches the foyer ceiling lights.<\/span><\/div>\n
Oh the fun they must have had designing this tree! <\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
The book theme is central to the Sofitel’s Christmas decorations<\/span><\/div>\n
and the staff are all happy to tell you the story of a young boy William,<\/span><\/div>\n
whose favourite time of year was Christmas and he loved the Christmas tree.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
One year his Father made a Christmas tree of books<\/span><\/div>\n
and told young William and his brother <\/span>
that every night in December <\/span>they would read one of the books.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
Now William is the General Manager of Accor Hotels<\/span>
It’s a cute story, as is the one of the staff making all the Christmas trees<\/span>
I especially liked these ones above on upturned wine glasses!<\/span>

<\/span>It makes it a bit tricky to read the book, or to drink the wine<\/span>
but there we have it, a fun party idea for Christmas day perhaps?<\/span>

<\/span>We’ve just spent a lovely weekend at the Sofitel Sukhumvit*<\/span>
looking at places to live <\/span>for our upcoming move to Bangkok.<\/span><\/div>\n
