If you are visiting Melbourne today<\/span><\/div>\n
you’d be impressed with our Aussie winter.<\/span><\/div>\n
It is the most perfect spring-like day out there  <\/span><\/div>\n
with summer about to burst forth!<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We have been enjoying the sunshine and brunch at Acorn Nursery<\/span><\/div>\n
 admiring the garden and plants for sale.<\/span><\/div>\n
Here are some of my favourites:<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n
<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Protea<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
This protea is called Possum Magic<\/span><\/div>\n
Proteas do well in Melbourne<\/span><\/div>\n
being a hardy, dry tolerant plant requiring little food <\/span><\/div>\n
or water once established.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n
<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Camellia<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
I liked this camellia because it was called “Volunteer.”<\/span><\/div>\n
Since having kids I have spent the past twenty years <\/span>volunteering<\/span>.<\/span><\/div>\n
I thought it was a clever name and would be a perfect gift <\/span><\/div>\n
for one of my volunteers!<\/span><\/div>\n

Magnolia<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
I have chosen this Magnolia Vulcan because<\/span><\/div>\n
it shows the earlier hail damage and a reminder <\/span><\/div>\n
that not long ago we thought our Melbourne winter <\/span>would never end!<\/span><\/div>\n
I like the way the lavender is just peeping <\/span><\/div>\n
through the missing petal.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n
<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Cyclamen<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
When I think of winter I think of cyclamen’s in Australia<\/span><\/div>\n
They just love the cold!<\/span><\/div>\n
They do well indoors or even outdoors in our climate<\/span><\/div>\n
and flower for months on end!<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Primula<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
How pretty are these Fairy Primulas?<\/span><\/div>\n
They looked like they too coped a lashing from our last hail storm<\/span><\/div>\n
Hopefully all that is behind us now.<\/span>..<\/span><\/div>\n

Although Melbourne weather can be fickle,<\/span><\/div>\n
just when you think Spring has well and truly arrived<\/span><\/div>\n
Winter comes back!<\/span><\/div>\n
