You have to look long and hard to find Easter in Bangkok,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

so imagine my delight when I came across this at a hotel cafe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

\n

This is how the conversation went at our place:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Me:\u00a0‘So, Easter must be coming up soon?’<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Mr\u00a0Wren\u00a0‘I guess so.’\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0…<\/i><\/span>\u00a0more chitchat<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Me:\u00a0‘What you don’t get any holiday?!’<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Mr\u00a0Wren\u00a0‘Nope.<\/i>‘<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\n

Silly me, of course, we don’t get any holiday we are in a Buddhist country, but I’m a tad surprised\u00a0<\/span>with the low-key Easter approach, seeing<\/span>\u00a0how enthusiastically Christmas and Valentine’s Day\u00a0were\u00a0celebrated this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Especially given the Thai’s love of anything sweet. I mean what is your excuse to\u00a0munch on the most delicious chocolates if you can’t pull the Easter card?\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The whole country can’t all be on a sugar detox!<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Happy Easter treats Thai style.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

So here’s a huge round of bunny ears applause to Chef Simon, the new Executive Pastry Chef at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok who\u00a0has enthusiastically brought Easter to Bangkok. Well, let’s face it if there ever was a way to make an impact on this crazy city chocolate will do it!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Sadly, I didn’t get to meet Chef Simon. Bless, he was too busy making his chocolate eggs, but I was able to pass on my appreciation to Khun Phitchaya, the Assistant Director of F & B who tells me Chef\u00a0Simon\u00a0made this entire display.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hmmm, I was thinking of offering myself up next year as assistant Easter egg display maker…\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

I mean surely someone gets to lick the bowl out?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

I was there to buy an Easter Egg for\u00a0<\/span>Mr\u00a0Wren to take into the office tomorrow, if you have to work you might as well eat chocolate right? It was quite a decision, all the eggs looked so good.<\/span><\/p>\n

Full disclosure:\u00a0<\/b>No, of course, I didn’t receive anything from Grand Hyatt, Erawan Bangkok for writing this blog. But if\u00a0Mr\u00a0Wren would like to bring me home some crumbs from his work easter egg, that would be awesome!!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

So the next part of this story was that the Easter egg never made it into my husband’s office, by a series of unfortunate events the egg melted when left in a hot car for 30 seconds ….\u00a0no, not quite that short a time but it is blooming hot here.<\/div>\n

\u00a0When Chef Simon heard about the original post he invited us in to meet him and very kindly presented Mr Wren and I\u00a0with an egg each that he had made.<\/div>\n

\"\"What a generous gift and how special was that? The eggs are an art piece themselves, and in true\u00a0Thai\u00a0style are covered in gold. They are absolutely beautiful.<\/div>\n
