The life and travels of a British Aussie currently with my nest in Thailand.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full Amazing Thailand Tourism Year 2018, Amazing Thailand has been a very successful marketing slogan for over twenty years making Thailand one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.\u00a0 We certainly won&#8217;t be alone as we wander around, we welcomed over 35 million international visitors in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>So what exactly is it is the attraction, here are some of my thoughts:<\/p>\n<p>Firstly Bangkok is easy to get to, there are daily flights to every continent.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" surprising<\/strong>:<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When you get here you will be amazed by what you see, smell, taste and hear!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Life in Bangkok whether for the tourist or as a place to live is never dull. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For many of us, Bangkok and Thailand is an exotic destination yet a safe country to visit &#8230; well as long as you&#8217;re not on a moped in Phuket perhaps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It&#8217;s a country full of contrasts, from street vendors to Prada, with a bit of fake bling in between. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">From Michelin star restaurants to street food, there is a lot of gold everywhere and poverty all around.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is sometimes shocking, often charming, there are streets with a spaghetti mess of electrical cables and top end real estate, Bangkok is always surprising.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter everyone at all times of day or night.<\/p>\n<p>You can move from needing modest attire to enter the temples or Grand Palace to the anything-goes party area of town within the same evening.<\/p>\n<p>And if it ever gets way too manic there is always a cheap foot or Thai massage to be had to relax.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" high-end luxury market.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>You can whizz around on boats in the local canals like the locals or sit in a traffic jam in a limousine!<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" From history and culture to relaxing at a spa, or learning to cook Thai food. There is nightlife and there is nightlife! We have ballet and we have bars.<\/p>\n<p>This is a city that is on the move in more ways than one. Upwards. The Thai people are calmer than the rest of the world that I know! The best example is on the roads, I have never seen road rage despite some unconventional driving. I hardly ever hear anyone sound their horn. Patience is a great virtue in Thailand. Losing your temper is considered very poor form, getting angry in any circumstances never works.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Thailand is often called the most Buddhist country in the world, It is common to see men in orange robes in Bangkok. It is a popular custom for young Thai males to spend a short period of time as a monk in order to make merit for themselves and their families.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It&#8217;s a popular custom for young adolescent males in\u00a0<em>Thailand<\/em>\u00a0to spend a short\u00a0<em>time as a monk<\/em>, in order to receive merit for their parents and themselves. Food will be a big part of your Bangkok experience. If you have never been on a Thai cooking course, this could be the time to try.
